V Manoora Steamship TROPHY CUPManoora Enamel BadgeWW2 interest.. The Trophy Cup measure approx. Very Good Condition with age and usage wear and a tiny ding, lid not as rounded See pictures… Please look closely at the pictures as they accurately depict the condition and are part of the description….. I have more pictures if needed… The LAST PICTURE shows a PICTURE OF A Racing Form, this may have been the Winners Cup for the onboard races…. It is silver plated and would benefit from a polish. Manoora was a passenger liner that served in the Royal Australian Navy during World War II. Built in Scotland in 1935 for the Cairns to Fremantle coastal passenger run for the Adelaide Steamship Company, she was requisitioned by the RAN for naval service in 1939. While HMAS Manoora she escaped from Singapore and spent some time patrolling and escorting convoys in Aussie waters. PLEASE NOTE: Due to differences in Computer Monitors, resolution settings, color settings, the pictures may not represent the true color of the actual piece you receive. A Lovely Addition to your Collection.. My Packing is stored in a converted green house and sometimes yellows from the Sun. I want Happy Customers and make every attempt to describe each item as accurately as possible. Most of my items listed are vintage and they come to you in “as found” and “as is” condition, the condition being described to the very best of my ability. All Items are Not, Pet Free or Smoke-free. So some may have, smoky or Musty, or Pet odors and may need to be aired, We Mention this in respect to those with allergies, items may need to be cleaned and/or aired due to environmental conditions, Attics, Storage facilities, Garages, and may have smells of which I have no control….. With all Vintage lamps, or Clocks, and Electronics for your safety, you should have them professionally checked before using them. With ALL DISHES please clean before using.. Living in Florida I often pack a Satchel with Citrus disk in the box to deter silverfish and help with the humidity, both are bad in Florida, I hope this isn’t an inconvenience. The Satchel is nice to hang on a hanger or put in the Laundry Closet… I also have unusual methods of packing to ensure your item arrives safely, I have often bought Bed Pads at Walmart and used them instead of the lightweight Tissue Paper, and is softer. WW2 German Navy Kriegsmarine SIGNAL HORN PRINZ EUGEN RARE
These were used on various Navy ships throughout the war. This SPECIFIC item (along with other items I have listed) was saved from the Admiral Hipper Class Cruiser “Prinz Eugen” by Commander William F. Handley, shortly before her demise in 1946. Handley served as the Chief Engineer on the Prinz Eugen for the duration of her US Service, up until she was scrapped. Prinz Eugen was an Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruiser, laid down in April 1936, launched in August 1938, and entered service after the outbreak of war, in August 1940. She was armed with a main battery of eight 20.3 cm guns and displaced over 16,000 long tons. Along with the Bismarck, she saw action during Operation in May 1941. The two ships destroyed the British battlecruiser Hood and moderately damaged the battleship Prince of Wales in the Battle of the Denmark Strait. In February 1942, Prinz Eugen was deployed to Norway, although her time stationed there was curtailed when she was torpedoed by the British submarine Trident days after arriving in Norwegian waters. After the German collapse in May 1945, she was surrendered to the British Royal Navy before being transferred to the US Navy as a war prize. The cruiser was commissioned into the US Navy as the unclassified miscellaneous vessel USS Prinz Eugen with the hull number IX-300. Having survived the atomic blasts, Prinz Eugen was towed to Kwajalein Atoll, where she ultimately capsized and sank in December 1946. The wreck remains partially visible above the water approximately two miles northwest of Bucholz Army Airfield, on the edge of Enubuj. One of her screw propellers was salvaged and is on display at the Laboe Naval Memorial in Germany. Made of a what appears to be a painted brass. This Signal Horn is a VERY NICE example! Originating from the “Prinz Eugen”, Handley’s Estate indicate this as being a “Mess Hall Horn”… However I do not think that is correct. It appears to be a signaling horn. T here is some slight wear, marks, and dents due to the age, but nothing that detracts. Features a nice KM Adler Inspection stamp on the top. Please note that the Photos, Documents, ID’s etc. An EXTREMELY RARE piece of history, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display! Please note that I have NUMEROUS items from the Prinz Eugen, all which were removed by Commander William F. TERMS OF SALE. Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. ABOUT ME. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. , as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. Use is solely based on my authorization only. The item “WW2 German Navy Kriegsmarine SIGNAL HORN PRINZ EUGEN RARE” is in sale since Saturday, November 30, 2019. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Transportation\Boats & Ships\Military\Other Naval Collectibles”. The seller is “messerschmitt*109″ and is located in Malibu, California. This a rare Original Officer & Crew of the USS Shangri-La Aircraft Carrier CV-38. Nicknamed “Tokyo Express” This photo is really museum quality. The Photo measures approx. 34″ x 12″ It comes complete with a metal and glass frame. There is normal wear to the Photo. A few crease marks and two worn spots on photo. Please view all pictures. The Photo is dated April 20, 1946. Commanding Officer was Captain E. The Executive Officer was D. This Photo was taken In San Diego, California. This was an estate find so I know nothing about anyone person in the photo or much about it other than what I could find on the internet. The following was provided by Pushing On. Named after the fictitious Himalayan kingdom described by James Hilton in his popular novel, Lost Horizon. In the early days of the Second World War, President Franklin Roosevelt was asked by reporters about the Doolittle raid on Tokyo in April, 1942. Roosevelt said that the Doolittle bombers took off from somewhere in Shangri-La. The hull of Shangri-La Essex-class carrier was laid down in the Norfolk Navy Yard in January, 1943, and she was launched 13 months later, she was commissioned in September, 1944. She became part of the force that attacked Okinawa. She became the flagship of the 2nd Carrier Task Force and was captained by Vice Admiral John McCain. For the remainder of the war she was engaged in airstrikes against the home islands of Japan. In 1946 the carrier participated in Operation Crossroads in the Central Pacific, the atomic bomb tests conducted at Bikini Atoll. In November, 1947, she was decommissioned and placed in the Rserve Fleet at San Francisco. Five years later she was underwent modernization at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She received an angled flight deck, twin steam catapults and her aircraft elevators and arresting gear were overhauled. In the 1960s she was part of the 6th fleet in the Mediterranean. In 1962 she was overhauled again in New York. This time she received a new air search and height-finding radar and a new arrester system. Her electrical and enginering equipment was renovated. In 1964 and 1965 she underwent another overhaul, this time in Philadelphia. She was then designated as an antisubmarine warfare aircraft carrier, CVS-38 and sailed to the Western Pacific. For seven months she launched her planes and her tours of duty on Yankee station. Following preinactivation overhaul at the Boston Naval Shipyard South Annex, she was decommissioned in July, 1971. She was placed in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet and berthed at Philadelphia. During her long career the Shangri-la earned two battle stars for World War II service and three battle stars for service in the Vietnam War. I can’t find another example of this work. Please let me know if anyone else knows of another example that exists for sale. Size 11 1/2 x 8 1/4. It cannot be after 1906 because the Wisconsin entered the shipyard in 1906 for extensive overhaul which resulted in the removal of the masts pictured with the heavy cage masts common in the later battleships prior to WWI. By 1883 it had 55 employees and handled all advertising for Pabst Brewing. She was the third and final member of her class to be built. Her keel was laid down in February 1897 at the Union Iron Works in San Francisco, and she was launched in November 1898. Wisconsin served as the flagship of the Pacific Fleet from her commissioning to 1903; during this period, she made one long distance cruise to American Samoa in late 1901. In 1903, she was transferred to the Asiatic Fleet, where she served as the Northern Squadron flagship. The caged mast replaced the mast pictured in this lithograph. In July 1908, she joined the Great White Fleet for the second leg of its cruise around the world, which lasted until February 1909. She was also assigned to the Coast Battleship Patrol Squadron. She took part in a naval review in December 1918 after the war ended. She served briefly with the fleet in 1919, though by May 1920, she was decommissioned. From Atlas Aristide Quillet. Poster with system with nomenclature. Against glued on cardboard. 28 x 20 cm for the overall format. Poster 28 x 38 cm with nomenclature. Other photos available on request. Because impossible to put all on the ad. The career of the seaplane Latécoère 521 was interrupted by the Second World War, however he was able to obtain many records in late 1937, especially that of the distance for seaplanes with a link between Morocco and Brazil, a distance of 5,770 km. This aircraft made its first flight to Biscarrosse in January 1935, with pilots Jean Gonnord and Crespy. Its structure was metallic, its two decks of unequal width gave it a particular silhouette, its lateral stabilizers acted as fuel tanks and its six engines that led Ratier propellers with variable pitch were arranged as follows: four central tandem and two external tractors placed on the leading edge. The Laté 521, with a capacity of 30 passengers on the Atlantic route or 70 passengers on the Mediterranean lines was started in 1933 and completed in late July 1934. Following a prestigious trip at the end of the year 1935: Biscarrosse party with a crew led by Commander Bonnot, he stopped in Dakar before crossing the Atlantic to Natal. The voyage continued in the Antilles for the tercentenary of the French colonization to end in Pensacola, Florida, in January 1936. At this location, the mooring seaplane was turned over during a storm and sank. The plane was repaired, it almost crossed the Atlantic in September 1937, but did not receive the necessary authorizations, a flight Biscarrosse, Lisbon, the Azores, New York could be done by Guillaumet in August 1938, a return flight was completed by this same pilot following the North Atlantic route in the west-east direction. This nonstop flight New York-Biscarrosse via Botwood in Newfoundland took place in July 1939 (5.875 km traveled at an average speed greater than 200 km / h).
