We have a lot of Interesting items!! 14 years old – above. 1 x 1/350 Scale Model Kit. Commissioned in October 1941, she spent the next four months in the Atlantic preparing for battle. Transferred to the Pacific in March 1942, the Hornet was immediately deployed for the Doolittle raid. On 18 April 1942 she launched 16 U. Army B-25 bombers to attack Japan, a strike that caused relatively little damage but which had enormous strategic implications. The Hornet was then sent to the South Pacific to reinforce U. Units following the Battle of Coral Sea, but was recalled to Pearl Harbor in mid-May. She then took part in the Battle of Midway, on 4-6 June 1942 during which her aircraft assisted in the sinking of the Japanese cruiser Mikuma. During much of September and October, she was the only operational U. Aircraft carrier available to oppose the Japanese in that area. On 26 October 1942, during the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, her planes attacked and badly damaged the Japanese carrier Shokaku. In return, however, the Hornet received heavy bomb and torpedo damage, necessitating her abandonment. Destroyers attempted to scuttle her, she remained afloat until torpedoed and sunk by Japanese ships early in the morning of 27 October. Thank you for your understanding. Used specifically on the. 10.5 cm S. L/40, t his was used throughout WW1 and WW2 on various Cruisers and Gunboats! The 10.5 cm SK L/40 SK – Schnelladekanone (quick-loading cannon) L – Länge (with a 40-caliber long barrel) was a German naval gun used in World War I and World War II. It weighed 1,555 kilograms (3,428 lb), had an overall length of 4.475 m (14 ft 8.2 in). It used a horizontal sliding-block breech design. Used on various ships, such as. Made of solid brass, aluminum, and steel by Zeiss, this scope is in EXCELLENT used condition! Though it is over 100 years old, it still. Retains some of it’s original paint, and markings are VERY clear! Though there is some slight spotting on the objective lens (should be an easy fix), the optics are VERY CLEAR, and the focus adjustment functions 100% correctly! Some small screws also appear to be missing. The data information is still clearly impressed into the front plate, and indicates 10.5cm S. Measuring approx 43 long, it weighs approx. I have shown the EXACT aiming scope in use in the last photo (see red arrow). Having never seen another one (only 7 guns remain in existence, and none have the targeting sight), it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display! TERMS OF SALE.
