It has a maximum displacement of 8480 tons and is similar in size to the USA Navy’s Aegis equipped missile cruisers. The first-of-class Sovremenny was commissioned in 1985. A total of eighteen have been built for the Russian Navy, eleven of which are in service, six are no longer operational and one more (launched in 1994) is awaiting commission. Two further vessels ordered by China have been launched. The first and the second were delivered in 1999 and 2000. All ships were built at the Northern Yard in Saint Petersburg. 1943 WW2 Pacific Navy Attack Snapshot Photos, USS Selfridge, Vella Lavella

This is a set of 42 different original 1943 WW2 Pacific Navy Attack Snapshot Photos including some of the USS Selfridge and engagements on the Pacific campaign that included the Battle of Vella Lavella. There are also two photo postcards included. The snapshots are of two differenht sizes measuring 4 3/8″X3.35″ and 5″X2.75″. There are 38 photos stamped on the reverse “Not for Publication, Not for Transmission through the Post” that I believe are original snapshots that did not pass a sensor test. The photos of the USS Selfridge are dated Oct. This is the day of and the day after the Battle of Vella Lavella in which the USS Selfridge sustained the damage. There are also photos of US and Allied ships underway. The snapshots have varying degrees of minor curling, small bends, creases and wrinkles, some fading and some phots have some blurred images or have some development imperfections as well. Submarine Depth Gauge Meter Instrument US Navy Post WW2 Sub Ship Nautical Marine

Navy submarines have multiple depth gauges of varying depths that can be switched on or off depending on what depth the submarine is operating at. The gauge was disassembled and the inside of the housing was then cleaned, then the gauge was reassembled, tested with water and compressed air, and confirmed to be in working condition. The parts of the phosphor bronze mechanism that are inside of the housing are all clean. Because of the age of the gauge, it should be assumed that it is no longer accurate and would need to be sent to a qualified shop to be recalibrated in order for it to be accurate again. The gauge has a bakelite housing, a glass lens and a steel dial.
